Solid Basic SUV - old but even survived Hurricane. Paint doesn't look good anymore after roof shingles basically sandblasted it in some areas. Other than that it should run another at least Two hundred thousand miles.
    • My (beloved) Clunker.../09 Escape Hybrid

No real complaints about the 17 yr. old Escape Hybrid. Not a luxury vehicle but hasn't let me down yet aka it's been a very reliable vehicle. Try to maintain it as best that I can (although now that it is quite old, I'm not as diligent in taking care of it). The Diagnostics just went on it (i.e. tire pressure sensor fault light is always on, engine (oil) warning light always on, check brakes etc). Also the AC quit working...stone apparently struck the condenser. As old as it is, I can't justify the cost of fixing these issues (& my mechanic agrees). That said, since we have long winters c/w having to deal with lotsa salt on the roads in winter, I have tried to keep the vehicle rust protected (get it oil sprayed every other year) and I also (hand apply) wax (almost) every year. The result is it looks great. The only thing I seem to do is change the oil/reg. service as required & it just keeps going.
    • Great car for anyone

Purchased my 08 escape used (1 owner) I've had no issues only normal maintenance needed in 5+ years I've owned it. Now at 150K miles it still runs great. Reliable, handles well in rain snow, and even ice. Comfortable and easy to drive. Plenty of power even when towing a trailer full of camping gear and heavy tool boxes and more. I recommend this model /yr. A good first car and a good car for anyone driving in Washington's weather conditions.
